The Team

Gayle Conran is President of ConranPR, a leading New York boutique PR firm specializing in travel and tourism that was founded more than 15 years ago. Headquartered in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood, the firm is one of the most well regarded boutique agencies in the tourism industry, representing top hotels and resorts in far flung locales from the Caribbean to the Swiss Alps. The agency continually wins prestigious awards and on behalf of its clients, ConranPR has secured feature coverage in all the leading media outlets that matter most, from The New York Times, Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Departures, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, The Today Show and countless other magazines, newspapers, television programs, websites and blogs. Gayle serves on the Social Media Task Force for the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) organization and is a member of TBEX, the Travel Bloggers Exchange. Her pro bono work includes involvement as a Board member for Career Transitions for Dancers in New York and as a Co-Chair on the 2010 Gala at Committee for the annual fundraiser at City Center. She has initiated a flexible internship program that gives professional dancers the opportunity to gain field experience in a PR agency during their off time from performing.

Prior to starting her own business, Gayle was a Managing Director for five years at Hill and Knowlton, New York, the U.S. headquarters for the worldwide public relations firm owned by the WPP Group. Her experience there included managing several of the industry’s most distinguished tourism accounts such as The Puerto Rico Tourism Company, The Palm Beach County Convention and Visitor Bureau, Cathay Pacific Airways and others. During that time she was a member of the Crisis Communications team that handled the Swissair flight #111 disaster in September 1998. Then in 1999, she launched ConranPR from her studio apartment, using an upside down empty cardboard box and a kitchen chair as a makeshift desk and has since grown it into one of the leading boutique agencies specializing in travel publicity.

Gayle began her professional life early. Immediately after graduating from a performing arts high school, she became a contracted member of The Milwaukee Ballet and later a member of The Boston Ballet from 1981 to 1989, during which time she toured the U.S., Mexico and Europe with Rudolf Nureyev in his productions of Swan Lake, Giselle and Don Quixote. While still dancing full time, she began paving the way for her career transition, working pro bono on projects with Boston Ballet’s public relations director. She also penned numerous by-lined articles on the arts for The Boston Globe and Playbill. Before leaving the company, she researched and wrote Boston Ballet’s history for their 25th Anniversary commemorative book.

In 1992, Gayle became the first dancer from Boston Ballet to graduate from Brown University, leading the way for what has become a legacy of Ivy League educated former dancers. Shortly after graduating, she was featured in Brown’s alumni magazine in article about the University’s successful track record with professional dancers and their ability to excel in higher education.

Her work takes her to some of the most coveted vacation spots in the world, yet being at home with her husband Everet Potter, a journalist, and their 13 year old daughter Emma, is her favorite place on the planet.

Everett Potter is the Editorial Director at ConranPR. As a working, professional journalist with nearly 30 years of experience, this is an enormous competitive asset to the agency and its clients. No one understands the needs of writers and editors on deadline more than he does. Under his watchful eye, ConranPR’s public relations efforts are always targeted, timely and accurate. Everett ensures that each and every message that leaves ConranPR’s office have been literally crafted by a writer for writers.

Everett’s knowledge of the luxury travel world is profound. It encompasses Europe, South America, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean as well as North America. But beyond a familiarity and comfort level with top luxury properties, Everett understands how the media think and exactly what they are looking for. As a working journalist, he’s always on watch 24/7 seeking to identify the real news value in every client’s story.

Everett Potter's work as a professional journalist has taken him around the world and back.  Potter spent 18 years as a weekly columnist for The New York Times Syndicate, six years as a columnist for Smart Money: The Wall Street Journal Magazine of Personal Business and another six years as a columnist for USA Weekend. He was a longtime columnist for Luxury Spa Finder, Diversion and Laptop magazines and was a frequent contributor to Outside for more than a decade. He was a contributing editor to ForbesTraveler.com and worked as a consultant to launch the Forbes 400 list of the World’s Best Hotels.

Along the way, he’s written two books, had bylines in virtually every leading travel publication in the US, appeared on national television networks including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN and CNBC, and won four Lowell Thomas Awards.

Everett continues to write for many of these publications. In 2006, Potter took a sharp look at the online world and harnessed everything he had learned writing for other publications and channeled his expertise into a new digital publishing venture with the launch of Everett Potter’s Travel Report. As its chief writer, editor and publisher, he delivers one of the most successful, widely read and well respected digital sites in the industry. The cache of two dozen regular contributors includes many of the top names in travel.

The Wall Street Journal has singled out Everett Potter’s Travel Report twice, noting "We always enjoy reading Everett Potter's Travel Report, an online resource from a longtime and discerning travel writer" and later saying that it’s “a terrific mix of profiles and interviews, all designed to make the best use of your travel budget.”

A former board member of the Adventure Travel Trade Association (ATTA), Potter is also a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and a past president of the New York Travel Writers Association.
